A moderate route in Warwickshire. Check the GPS track on Outdooractive for full details of the route, waypoints, and terrain.
Starting Point: Roadside parking, Idlicote (SP 284 433)
Terrain: Field paths, Cotswold Link long-distance path, road walking, gentle Warwickshire countryside
This is a pleasant figure-of-eight walk through quiet Warwickshire countryside, visiting the attractive villages of Idlicote, Whatcote and Honington. The route uses sections of the Cotswold Link long-distance path combined with field paths and quiet lanes, creating a varied walk through gently rolling farmland. Two navigation points require careful attention - the unmarked path at SP 291 443 and the hard-to-spot gate near Honington - both of which caught us out and required doubling back. The reward at the end is the delightful fox and hounds topiary near Idlicote church, a wonderful garden feature that provides a charming finish to the walk. A relaxing day exploring lesser-known corners of south Warwickshire with gentle gradients and attractive village scenery throughout
