A thoroughly enjoyable circular walk that makes the most of the fine countryside around Kenilworth, with two genuinely interesting historical features to seek out along the way. The walk begins and ends in the lovely Abbey Fields, with the Abbey ruins and pond providing a memorable opening and closing to the route. The Millennium Way takes you smartly out of town and around the back of the magnificent Kenilworth Castle before the route heads northwest through open fields to Chase Lane and the edge of Chase Wood. The highlight of the outward leg is the possible site of St John's Well near Honiley - a medieval holy well used for healing, quietly tucked away and easy to miss if you are not looking for it. The return from Beausale follows a good path east for some distance back towards the castle, with a brief navigational puzzle near SP 258 713 where we momentarily lost the path - it is quickly found again so do not be alarmed. The Millennium Trail picks up the route and brings you back to the road above the pond for a fine finish through Abbey Fields. A great walk.
