A difficult route in Northern Pennines. Check the GPS track on Outdooractive for full details of the route, waypoints, and terrain.
Starting Point: Renwick village, by the church (NY 596 435)
Terrain: Roads, tracks, moorland paths, some boggy sections, lane walking.
This is an excellent Pennine circular walk offering superb views of the Lakeland Fells throughout. The route takes in Thack Moor, one of England's newest Hewitts, achieving mountain status by the narrowest of margins in 2013. The moorland walking across Renwick Fell, Skellings Moor, Haresceugh Fell and Gamblesby Fell provides a real sense of space and remoteness, with the target peaks always visible. Time the walk for dry conditions to avoid the boggier sections, and you'll be rewarded with outstanding views and a thoroughly enjoyable day in the northern Pennines.
