What to expect from this region

Dartmoor

England's highest and wildest moorland south of the Pennines — granite tors, ancient stone rows, blanket bog and that particular Devon light on a clear day. High Willhays and Yes Tor mark the highest ground. Navigation skills essential in mist.

South West Coast Path

At 630 miles, Britain's longest National Trail hugs the coastline from Minehead to Poole. The Devon and Cornwall sections offer some of the finest coastal walking in the country — dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and relentless up-and-down.

Bodmin Moor

Cornwall's upland heart — Brown Willy and Rough Tor rising above a landscape of ancient settlements, stone circles and wide skies. Quieter and wilder than Dartmoor, with a character all of its own.

Exmoor

Heather moorland meeting the sea in dramatic fashion along the Bristol Channel coast. Dunkery Beacon is the highest point; the Valley of Rocks near Lynton one of the most striking natural features in England.
