A wonderful circular walk making great use of the Heart of England Way through some of the finest North Warwickshire countryside. Starting from the National Trust car park at the beautiful moated manor of Baddesley Clinton — a stunning medieval house with deep connections to the Gunpowder Plot, its priest holes having sheltered Father Henry Garnet and others from priest hunters in 1591 — the route quickly picks up the Heart of England Way and heads southwest through Clinton Farm to the canal before a pleasant stretch of lanes and field paths takes you under the M40 and south through Bush Wood. The woodland edge path past Coppice Corner Farm and over the disused railway is a highlight of the outward leg, quiet and full of character. After rejoining the Heart of England Way near Potato Lane, the route passes through Lowsonford before a track alongside the M40 leads to Rowington Hill Bridge and the canal crossing into the village of Rowington. The return through Rowington churchyard picks up the Heart of England Way again for the final leg north through Green Farm and Hay Wood Lane, finishing with a stroll through Baddesley Clinton churchyard and straight back to the car park. A thoroughly enjoyable walk with great variety, two M40 crossings, a canal and a disused railway all adding interest along the way.
