A pleasant and varied short circular from Bishops Tachbrook, combining quiet field paths through the gently rolling countryside south of the village with a fine woodland section through the ancient Oakley Wood. The outward leg via Low Hill and Middle Farm is typical lowland Warwickshire walking — good field paths, a mix of stiles and gates, and the slightly incongruous sight of the solar farm next to Wiggerland Wood Farm providing a modern contrast to the traditional farming landscape. The Banbury Road crossings demand care — the road is genuinely very busy at times — but the woodland section that follows is a real reward, the ancient broadleaved character of Oakley Wood particularly fine in spring and autumn. The return north on Oakley Wood Road over the M40 bridge and across the fields back to Bishops Tachbrook is easy and pleasant. A thoroughly enjoyable short walk on the home patch.
