💡 Tony's Notes

A great circular walk through the pleasant Warwickshire countryside south of Bishop's Tachbrook, taking in quiet field paths, a stretch of woodland and two of the area's characteristic villages. The route heads south from the village through fields past Wiggerland Wood Farm and the solar farm before crossing the M40 and joining the Banbury Road briefly. The section through Wiggerland Wood and Oakley Wood gives good woodland walking, and the path past Ashorne Hill towards Ashorne offers great views towards Claverdon on a good day. The middle section through Ashorne village and down past the village hall to the footbridge over the brook is particularly pleasant. The long road section from Moreton Morrell back past Ashorne Hill College is the least exciting part of the walk but perfectly manageable with good verges and light traffic - we saw more cyclists than cars. The return through Oakley Wood gives you the option to explore as much or as little as you like before the final stretch back over the M40 and through the houses to the start. A thoroughly enjoyable walk with great views of the Warwickshire countryside.
