💡 Tony's Notes

A great circular walk with great views of the Warwickshire countryside and wonderful wildlife. Starting from Combrook, the route passes through the beautiful grounds of Compton Verney before threading north through fields and quiet lanes to the village of Lighthorne. The return via Bishops Gorse Farm takes in a woodland section which was muddy and overgrown on our visit - the field edge alternative is well worth taking. The optional shortcut at SP 338 538 makes better practical sense than the posted footpath without missing anything worthwhile. The highlight of the walk was an unexpected encounter with a herd of around eight roe deer near SP 334 543 - a genuinely memorable moment. The Poolfield Osier Beds add further interest on the way back before quiet lanes return you to Combrook. A thoroughly enjoyable walk.
