A thoroughly enjoyable circular from Ilmington combining some of the best paths on the Warwickshire-Cotswolds border — a walk that delivers countryside of real quality alongside two of the great named routes in this part of the country, a famous National Trust garden and the highest point in Warwickshire. The southern leg via Foxcote is quietly impressive, the track winding past the house and farm through the coppice with a sense of being in genuinely unspoilt country. Ebrington is a classic Cotswold village worth savouring before the Diamond Way and Cotswold Link carry the route west to Hidcote Boyce — where the water trough with goldfish makes an unexpected and charming cameo — and on to Hidcote Manor. The climb to the radio masts and the short detour to Ebrington Hill's trig point rewards with a wide and commanding view across to the Malverns and across the length of South Warwickshire. The Centenary Way return brings the whole walk home pleasantly, with the option of a final loop via Ilmington church adding a fitting last touch to an excellent day's walking.
