A fine and varied circular from Leek Wootton that takes in a remarkable range of Warwickshire landscape and character for its distance — river meadows, quiet hamlets, a riverside church, the streets of Kenilworth, open fields and a Centenary Way return through the golf course parkland. The early section over the A46 bridge and across the railway to Hill Wootton and the River Avon is a pleasant start, and the approach to Ashow along the riverside is one of the most attractive sections of walking in this part of Warwickshire. The optional visit to Ashow church — a medieval gem beside the Avon, sought out for personal reasons on this occasion — is one that rewards anyone who stops. The walk north through Ashow and along Rocky Lane back to Kenilworth via Glasshouse Lane and Windy Arbour is varied and interesting, and the long return southwest across the fields and through the spinney to the Centenary Way provides a fine open finale before the golf course crossing and the quiet path back to Leek Wootton church and the car. A thoroughly enjoyable and well-varied walk.
