A moderate route in Northern Pennines. Check the GPS track on Outdooractive for full details of the route, waypoints, and terrain.
Starting Point: Hartside viewpoint car park (NY 641 422)
Terrain: Moorland paths, some indistinct sections, gully crossing, boggy areas.
This is a straightforward linear walk across Pennine moorland to Melmerby Fell, offering wonderful views of the Lakeland Fells throughout, great if you just fancy a stroll or even if you are Hewitt bagging. The path is generally clear except at Long Pot where it fades and a gully crossing is required. The section around Knapside Hill can be boggy after wet weather. A pleasant out-and-back route across open moorland with good views rewarding the modest effort and another Hewitt bagged.
