A pleasant and undemanding circular from Long Itchington combining field-path walking on the Millennium Way with a long and enjoyable stretch of the Grand Union Canal towpath. The outward leg follows the Millennium Way west through the village along the River Itchen, crossing the disused railway and passing Snowford Hill Barn before picking up Stonebridge Lane and the quiet lanes south to the canal. The return east along the towpath is easy, level walking through a sequence of well-known canal features — Bascote Locks, Toll House Bridge and Bascote Bridge — with the broad Warwickshire countryside on either side. Long Itchington itself repays a few minutes of exploration on the return: the Tudor House has a royal connection that lends this modest village walk a touch of genuine historical distinction.
